How to Build a Private Label Makeup Brush Set
Set configuration, branding and packaging decisions that turn a brush list into a retail-ready product.
Working on a brush project?
YELVINA manufactures makeup brushes, sets, bags, sponges and powder puffs for OEM, ODM and private-label buyers.
Request a QuoteView ProductsA private-label makeup brush set is not a list of brushes with a logo added. It is a single retail product with a piece count, a coordinated look, a packaging format and a shelf position. The set succeeds or fails as a unit.
Decide the piece count from your channel
Standard configurations are 5, 8, 12, 24 and 32 pieces, and each one implies a different product. A 5-piece set is a travel or kit product. An 8-piece set is the most requested wholesale configuration. A 12-piece set reads as a full collection. A 24- or 32-piece set positions as a professional range.
Working backwards from your channel is more reliable than starting from a competitor’s count. If you sell through a marketplace, a lower piece count with strong packaging often performs better. If you supply salons or specialty retail, a larger set is easier to justify.
Keep the handle and ferrule consistent
The single most visible sign of a well-made set is a coordinated handle. If one brush in a 12-piece set has a different handle length or a different ferrule finish, the set reads as assembled rather than designed.
- Fix the handle specification once and apply it to every piece in the set.
- Match ferrule finish and color across the set.
- Use brand colors consistently on handles, ferrules and packaging.
- Decide the logo method per component, not per set.
Branding methods and their constraints
Silk printing, hot stamping and laser engraving are the standard options, and the method available to you depends on the product structure. A curved handle, a printed handle and a lacquered handle each accept different methods. Send artwork early, because the logo method can influence which components are practical.
Packaging is part of the product
Individual boxes, brush pouches, brush bags, gift boxes and set packaging are all available. A pouch turns a set into a single shippable retail unit at modest cost; a structured case raises the perceived value further. Matching the bag material and color to the handle is what makes the whole thing look intentional.
A set that arrives without a matching bag looks unfinished, however good the brushes are.
Build the set in stages
A sensible sequence is: confirm the brush list, confirm the handle specification, sample the set, approve the packaging, then produce. Changing the piece count after packaging is approved means reworking the box, the insert and the bag — which is the most expensive mistake in a private-label project.
- Shortlist the brushes and confirm the application each one serves.
- Fix handle, ferrule and color specification across the set.
- Order samples and review them as a set, not individually.
- Approve packaging before confirming the production order.
- Confirm the destination country and Incoterm for a real landed comparison.
